Employment

Prior to joining NIESR, Barry had worked in a number of roles in the private and public sectors.  Immediately prior to joining, Barry had been Chief Economist at Santander UK for 20 years.  He has also been a senior economist at HSBC, an Economic Advisor at both HM Treasury and the National Economic Development Office (NEDO) and a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Liverpool.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), having served as a Chief Examiner for the Institute during the 1990s.
