For the 2025 Dow Lecture, we hosted External MPC Member and LSE Associate Professor Swati Dhingra, who gave a talk on trade fragmentation and monetary policy.

About the Speaker 

Dr. Dhingra has been an external member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee since 2022. She is also associate professor of Economics at the London School of Economics, and an Associate of the Centre for Economic Performance at LSE. She is a director of The Royal Mint Museum and a member of the Steering Group for the UK Economy's 2030 Inquiry. Swati graduated from the University of Delhi and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and was a post-doctoral fellow at Princeton University.  Her research has been funded by ESRC, ERC, IGC, UKRI and was awarded the ONS‘s Research Excellence People’s Choice Award 2019. She was elected to the Council of the Royal Economic Society in 2021, and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Economics and the Review of Economic Studies.
